Peacocks? 🦚

The peacock has been the totem animal of our Union since Josh and I first met, six months before I knew what Twin Flames were.

Peacock

At my old house, Josh noticed a preschool finger painting hanging on my wall that my niece had made. It was a peacock, created from two little hands covered in paint and pressed onto the paper to form its beautiful tail feathers.

Startled, Josh asked, “What is that?”

I looked at him, bewildered. “Oh, this? It’s my niece Everly’s painting.”

“Holy shit.”

Then Josh told me that his daughter’s name was also Everly, a relatively uncommon name. He rolled up his sleeve and showed me the beautifully colored peacock tattoo on his left forearm.

He had already adopted the peacock as his totem animal.

Finding a peacock hanging on my wall was one thing. Discovering that my niece and his daughter also shared the name Everly gave the moment an even deeper meaning. This was around the time the synchronicities between us were becoming impossible for me to ignore.

The Spiritual Meaning of the Peacock

The peacock has long been associated with integrity, nobility, holiness, guidance, protection, watchfulness, and the beauty that emerges when we reveal our true colors. Peacock symbolism also appears within Hindu and Christian spiritual traditions.

Many of these qualities speak deeply to what Josh and I have been learning within our Union.

For me, the peacock is an invitation to reveal who I truly am. It reminds me to claim my own nobility, protect what is sacred within me, and remain watchful over the thoughts and beliefs I choose to nurture.

I also love the ancient symbolism of the peacock transforming poison into beauty.

That image has always reminded me of what happens through our inner work. When Josh and I encounter something within ourselves that feels out of alignment with love, we have an opportunity to heal it through the Mirror Exercise. What once felt painful can become wisdom, strength, compassion, and deeper love.

And we each have our own way of doing that.

I tend to be more direct. Josh has his own way of processing his feelings. Part of loving each other has been learning to honor both.

The Peacock We Met

Recently, Josh and I have been going deeper with Peacock Energy.

I experienced the spiritual presence of a peacock offering another layer of meaning to me:

“The peacock has eyes on its feathers distracting predators from the true being of the peacock in the center. This is a symbol for feathers of ego that deflect and distract the individual from the core, the true Self. Even with ego’s tricks and illusions, it’s easy to come back to the Self, and that is to feel your feelings.

The feathers are also a symbol for the illusion of Maya, and in particular, the illusion of separation from your One True Love, God, and your Twin Flame. Your Twin Flame, like the peacock’s body, is just right there, has been there all along, and the eyes of the feathers are seductive illusion. It’s easy to love the bird in the middle, and the feathers descend, revealing a very sweet, loving creature that just wants to be honored and appreciated.”

This gave me such a beautiful image of the ego.

The feathers can be dazzling. They can pull your attention in a hundred different directions. Fear, circumstances, separation, stories about what your Twin Flame is doing, what something means, or what might happen next can become those countless eyes demanding your attention.

And underneath all of that is the Self.

For me, returning to myself means returning to my feelings, loving what I find there, and reconnecting with God within.

The peacock reminds me that I don't have to follow every distraction offered by fear. I can come back to the center.

Calling In Spiritual Guidance

Josh and I love peacocks as spirit guides. Other people may feel connected with guardian angels, spiritual beings, or other animals that hold personal meaning for them.

Jeff and Shaleia shared this decree for inviting the right spiritual guidance into your life:

“God, I invite now the perfect Spirit Guides to enter my life. I promise to obey You in them and to hear them clearly. I promise to serve Your will through them well and to follow their direction in Your Name. And so it is.”

— Jeff and Shaleia, Twin Flame Ascension School

The peacock has been woven into Josh’s and my story since before I even understood what our connection was.

Years later, we live together in Union, and the symbol continues to reveal new meaning to me.

That feels fitting.

Our Twin Flame journey has taught me again and again that healing does not erase who we are. It reveals more of who we truly are. The places that once held fear, pain, or illusion can become the very places where our love becomes stronger.

That is what the peacock represents to me.

Transformation. Beauty. Truth. And the courage to reveal your true colors.
