Ever since Josh and I made the conscious decision to relocate to Michigan, our personal growth and healing have been on a fast track. Our choice brought many underlying issues to the surface, and we've been diligently working through each one step by step. The most exciting outcome of this journey is the emergence of a new chapter in our life purpose as a couple.

We initially started exploring the idea of moving in November, which made sense for me after I resigned from my part-time job, as I could work remotely from anywhere. We had set aside a couple of thousand dollars for the move, and we began searching for potential places to live. I made a few inquiries and even connected with a fantastic realtor to assist us in our future home purchase.

However, a letter arrived that shifted our plans. Josh had a significant outstanding child support debt, as he has a daughter living in Ohio whom he hasn't seen in several years. This issue was crucial and required immediate attention. Since Josh hadn't held a paying job since January, the wages that should have been garnished for child support were not being deducted. He had been focused on his personal healing and sobriety but had yet to address this pressing matter.

I assured Josh that we would tackle this issue together as a team and find a solution. We explored various possibilities, and the most practical one coincided with another goal Josh had harbored for years: completing his college degree. Josh had access to the GI Bill, which would cover tuition and provide a living stipend, sufficient to cover child support and more. This was a more viable option for the time being, as my coaching business couldn't fully support these financial obligations, although it would eventually catch up as it continued to grow.

During our time together, Josh had discovered a deep passion for cooking and horticulture, particularly growing produce. Our garden had flourished, and he invested a significant amount of time in watering, planting, and learning from educational resources on sustainable farming. This was more than just a hobby; it was revealing a profound life purpose.

As Josh and I continued to heal and grow closer as a couple, thanks to regular coaching sessions with Jason and Chrissy, we established a solid foundation. It was this stability that allowed us the freedom to explore our passions. Prior to this stability, we couldn't have pursued our dreams, and we're grateful for the Teachings of Union for paving the way.

Josh discovered several certificate programs at Greenville Tech, initially drawn to the shiny prospect of becoming an air pilot. However, as he delved deeper into his passions, he realized he could pursue degrees in culinary arts and obtain certifications in horticulture and agriculture. This felt like the perfect fit, and opportunities kept opening up one after another. Josh applied and was accepted, with plans to start in the spring semester.

For the first time, Josh and I had a heart-to-heart discussion about our vision. Our aspirations were perfectly aligned: we envisioned a small education farm that would offer a farm-to-table experience and serve as a place of healing. We discussed our desire to partner with the Church to create a homestead for personal retreats, providing holistic healing in all aspects of life. Josh's own journey to recovery was greatly influenced by the Teachings of Union, including coaching and Divine Dish, as well as his connection to the land, which had a grounding effect. Our vision included a beautiful home in Michigan with a vast piece of land brimming with produce year-round, complete with a welcoming community greenhouse.

This vision felt not just perfect but divinely inspired. It was evident that God had shown us a grander purpose than we had initially imagined. While this vision required more effort and learning than we first thought, the profound sense of purpose behind it motivated us to create a solid plan and acquire the necessary knowledge to turn this dream into reality.

Josh will embark on his studies, and we will continue laying the foundation with God's guidance. There's still a possibility of moving after the spring semester, but we remain open to divine inspiration and redirection. Our journey has never been what we expected; it has always exceeded our expectations, step by step.
